The Mayor’s Mansion was built in 1734 by Jan Bruygom, a local nobleman. Then it became the home of Westzaan Mayor Teunis Slagter. The current owner plays the role of the Mayor’s wife, Kaatje Slagter, and invites you into the former office to see a short documentary of the history of the house and the Zaan region. She offers tea and lemonade, while you watch the documentary. The visit takes around 20 minutes.
